    Mike

You have brought me back to terrestrial radio. You use history to prove a point, like I have not heard before. Remember, everything has a cost and all cost must be passed on. Good job on the radio in Nashville, listen to it on my phone.

Mike, great show today especially the guy you interviewed who wrote the book. You truly have a knack for bringing out the patriotic fervor in me. When you were talking about how the old WW II vets really didn’t make such a big deal about there service to their country it reminded me of a quote by John Adams on posterity:you will never know how much it has cost my generation to preserve your freedom. I hope you will make good use of it. The greatest generation doesn’t talk much about their service because they felt it was a duty to their posterity to make sure that they had a better life of freedom and liberty for their children and grandchildren and they were willing to do what ever it took to make it happen. That’s what America is all about and thats what this Freedom Celebration is all about. Baudo’s will be serving hamburgers, hotdogs, italian sausage sandwich and I’m gonna try to smoke some boston butts for some good ole pulled pork sandwich. I can’t wait until Saturday to spend the day honoring some of the greatest Americans that ever lived. God Bless. Randy

  6. Bill says:

Mike, love your show and your passion for conservatism. But I was most unhappy this morning when you ask Stephen Fincher to apologize for his recent television advertisement attacking Ron Kirkland for donations to the Democratic Party. I remind you that Kirkland started the negative campaigning with incessant questions about farm subsidies. First of all, farmers in the U.S. cannot compete internationally without the subsidies. Secondly, why don’t you ask Kirkland about federal subsidies for his patients? Why the double standard?

  7. Greg says:

Bill – It’s simple. You either believe government is the solution or you don’t. I’m a conservative, so I don’t. I say take the farm subsidy budget and give it back to the taxpayers. Then they will have more money to buy food. We know how to spend our money better than the government. Simple concept. Support of farm subsidies is a socialist position, not a conservative one. Pointing out policy differences like Dr. Kirkland did and lying about previous political contributions like Fincher did are two different things, and the later is the definition of negative campaigning. By the way, I pay into Medicare with every pay-check. I wish the government didn’t try to take care of that too, but it is an insurance program where every tax payer puts in and every tax payer gets money out. But they need to get out of that business too. Farm subsidies are redistribution of the wealth from every tax payer to a single sector of our economy. Give me my tax dollars back directly. That’s the conservative solution. Greg

  9. joey says:

and i have asked a few times for a real explination of how americans fighting in iraq are protecting our freedom….. i know that the war in afghanistan is legit, but the one in iraq is a sham based on lies of wmd’s and such…..

please mike dedicate a show to explaining this war…..you old salt you.

  10. Why is it that in the state of Tennessee farmers receive millions of federal tax dollars in farm subsidies to protect their loss of income/revenue and yet they are not required to carry workmens compensation to provide any protection for their injured employees? Anyone can look this information up under Tennessee Workers Compensation Laws- I know from experience. This is completely rediculous.

  11. Becky says:

Kudos to all of you for the July 3 run for Izzy…I can’t even imagine running for 50 miles…an awesome feat for PJ Kellogg and all of the other runners. The was a wonderful event…thanks to all of you!!!

Mike, good show today! Tariffs are never the solution. May I remind everyone that it was the Smoot/Hawley tariff that threw us into the Great Depression and it was constant Government involvement in every part of our economy and the complete disregard of our Constitution that prolonged the depression and made it great. Does any of this sound familiar? Here’s a novel idea to get jobs back into this country! How about switching to a flat 10% tax on business. Eliminate the capital gains tax. Get rid of the death tax, estate tax and all tax loopholes by switching to a flat tax. We need to shrink government spending by 50% and change our tax policy. This progressive system of taxation that we are burdened with punishes success and rewards mediocrity. It stifles economic growth by punishing investment and savings and redistributes wealth through credits, deductions etc. Our economy is stifled and jobs are scarce because of a centralized, over regulatory, bureau fillled federal government with a lousy track record and an equally lousy tax structure. The time of the progressive, centralized federal government has run it’s course. For the past 100 years our country has been led down this destructive path and it’s time to completly change our future. For our posterity. God Bless. Randy

    Mike,
I’m having a difficult time with the congressional race for the 8th district.I want so badly to pick the right guy for the job,but I am becoming more and more convinced that He isn’t running.I don’t like any of these guys.I’ve tried to do my homework and I’ve read alot of stuff, but I’m having a problem determining what’s hype, lies,or subterfuge. Can you point me in the direction of some reliable,un-biased information to help me make up my mind?Any help you can give me would be greatly appreciated.

  14. Eric says:

Hey Mike, I know you have addressed this numerous times. But as we get closer to the primary, it seems like our four candidates are doing even more to tear each other apart. I got two pieces of mail today from Fincher and Kirkland, both tearing each other up and giving conflicting information. The democrats have to be totally enthusiastic to see what is going on. Why are the four republicans not listening to the constituents and to you? That was one of Tanner’s flaws. I want to know what they are going to do. If they have created jobs, how? If they are going to cut spending, how?Just wondering about your thoughts or the SlaterRaider thoughts.

  15. James says:

Mike – Do you have any info posted on the candidates for the 8th Congressional District? Like Chris and Eric above, I am having a difficult time evaluating them. Is there an upcoming debate, have you posted your thoughts anywhere, taken polls of your listeners? Please advise. Thanks, James

  16. Bill says:

Another pay raise for teachers? Unless I am horribly mistaken all I have received from seeing Tenn Care patients is a pay decrease(a decrease in reimbursement). It’s no wonder I am about the only Dr (dumb enough) to still be taking one of the Tenn Cares for my profession.
“Aw, you’re just a ‘rich Dr’. Quit complaining.”
Nothing could be further from the truth!

  17. Mike,

Please you are too handsome and have such nice hair to mess it up with those hair cuts you have on your website. Please NO!!! Please do not do this. There is something much better for you and those hair cuts are not you.

    Thanks!

  18. Stuber says:

  20. Becca says:

I think it would be fun if a group of people could get some period costumes and dress up like founding fathers and important women (powdered wigs and all!) of that time and go around town on or around halloween going into different venues, resturants, bars, stores and just out of no where do short funny informative skits. Like walk into a place and one in the group pull out a mock Declaration of Independace and all look over it and each one could name off some important stuff. People would be like what the heck is going on but it would remind them of where we came from and what we need to try to get back to and would be hilarious to see the look on peoples faces! I would loveto do this don’t know anyone to get a small group up. after skit we could pass out pocket consitutions or something.

    Dear Mr. Slater,
700 million years ago the world was covered from pole to pole by Ice This happened many times in the 750 million to 550 million years in the past. In the past 65 million year range the earth has had time of no or very little ice. See http://www.news.harvard.edu/gazette/1998/09.17/EarthWasComplet.html
    http://www.geotimes.org/oct07/article.html?id=feature_arctic.html

If science is to be believed and it should, how did man cause this ? For science says there was no man around to cause this past earth to be covered with ice or to be ice free.
    Sincerely,
    Bob Gates

    Mike,
the reason that individuals do not know how to talk to their bosses is because the Unions have usurped that knowledge form the employee.
